NEC Representative Cricket

The NEC has a great opportunity for the upcoming season in that we are looking for keen and willing individuals to take the Representative XI season to great heights!

We have had interest from several Leagues and County organisations who are also .. keen and willing .. to take on the our much respected XI's from U10 through to U15 and to that end I am now after those .. keen and willing .. individuals who have a few "free" days to lead us forward and take on these challenges that are being laid down.   Initial indications lead me to think that we are anticipating for each side say three or four matches at most .. some at "home" and some away.    The plan is to play two games on a Sunday with say two games midweek during the Summer Holidays but that is not set in tablets of stone.

I have been entrusted with steering this exciting project onwards and upwards at great speed and I believe that those who volunteer probably need these attributes:

• Availability on the days of the fixtures .. dates to be mutually agreed
• Available to select the side from the nominations provided
• Have had or currently have experience in managing or coaching colts XI's
• Able to arrange for a Scorer to be present .. plus a coach .. but .. only if you wish to delegate that role
• Co-ordinate travel for away games .. might well be in conjunction with another age group side playing the same opposition on the same day.  

In my role as Coordinator I would expect to provide help and assistance on an ongoing basis in respect of the above responsibilities.

The selection of the home grounds .. including negotiations for teas and or lunches .. to be done in consultation with Yours Truly who will provide the Umpires .. if needs be .. balls and scoresheets .. and hopefully .. NEC Representative XI caps.    Match Fees have yet to be decided.

A s you will appreciate time is fast running out to fulfil what has been planned and therefore a speedy response would be much appreciated from the "keen and willing" as it were.   Sides are chosen with a view to the NEC sides being successful but seasoned Surrey Squad players are probably out of our remit.

We actually have one fixture inked in and it is not that far away .. Monday 3rd May NEC U14 XI v Dorset .. so nominations will be asked for shortly after Easter.   Or earlier if you feel the need !
