About NEC Surrey Colts League
The North East & Central Surrey Colts League (NEC League) was established in 1994 to offer young cricketers in the region the finest opportunity to experience and realise their full potential at playing cricket.
The area and Surrey County Cricket Club welcomed the formation of the League as this embodied a platform for structured youth cricket in the County outside that of schools cricket. The NEC League has worked steadfastly to provide a framework for facilitating colts’ cricket and we are proud that we have created a League structure for each year group from under-9 to under-16.
From those early days the NEC League has continued to grow and attract new clubs. So much so, that the NEC League now provides competitive cricket for 130 teams from 30 clubs with over 2,200 participating youngsters; a number that has risen by over a third since 2002. This is fine testament to the popularity of the sport and indeed the ambitions of the League.
Our standing is prominent amongst similar cricket leagues and following years of continuous growth the NEC League has developed into one of the largest colts’ cricket leagues in the South of England. Key aspects in enabling this growth is the support for coaching qualifications, which the NEC League’s management committee encourages its clubs administrators to gain, and the adherence by our clubs to the ICC’s ‘Spirit of Cricket’.
